Hi! Welcome to my reading corner! On this blog I write reviews of the books I have most recently read! When I'm not chasing my toddler around, I read as much as possible! I love exploring the worlds and characters authors have created. There is something truly magical about authors sharing a made up world through words on a page and other people falling in love with that world. 

I am one of those people who sprints through hobbies, becoming especially mediocre at a lot things, such as water coloring and gardening. However, constant hobbies for me through life have been sports and reading. Besides those, I love baking (thanks to The Great British Baking Show) and napping (thanks to pregnancy).

Ten Years by Pernille Hughes  ⭐️⭐️⭐️ What I liked:  ❣️Enemies-to-lovers  ❣️Characters forced together to cope with a shared grief ❣️France ❣️The humor/Becca’s career ❣️Character flaws/imperfections across the board ❣️Super specific: when one takes care of the other during a really vulnerable time (illness/tragedy) What I didn’t like at all: 🤬 the swearing was too extreme for me the first 50% 💋raunchy innuendos 🥂 too many scenes building romantic tension were drowning in alcohol. Book Review: Resistance by Jennifer A. Nielsen

Resistance by Jennifer A. Nielsen ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 Resistance was a fascinating read. I had 0 prior knowledge about Jewish couriers of WWII, and Chaya’s story was incredibly informative. I loved the variety of nuanced decisions made by Jews in the name of resisting the Nazis, and learning about conditions of the ghettos and the purpose of the couriers. I also enjoyed seeing Chaya, a flawed character, learn that her way of resisting is not the best and only choice for everyone. It added to her character development. However, Chaya was very wordy, especially during battle moments, and often the teenagers did not sound like teenagers. The ending is kind of abrupt and open ended, which accurately shows how, for many surviving Jews, their stories were open ended and not tied up in a nice bow, but I would have liked an epilogue that gave more closure years later, or something like that. Book Review: Archenemies by Marissa Meyer

  Archenemies  by Marissa Meyer ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5 Archenemies is the second installment in the Renegades series. I ended up enjoying it, but it just took me a bit too long to get into. For me, it had the same problems as book 1, Renegades . I still find the superhero dialogue to be cringy and cheesy, and most of the time I cannot fathom why Adrian is into Nova. I also still can’t get my head around why Nova thinks Ace is in the right when anarchy CLEARLY was not working out all those years ago.  Lastly, like  Renegades ,  Archenemies  could have been at least 100 pages shorter and I would have been happier. But all those things said, I am a sucker for those tense moments of flirting and romance (even if I'm not crazy about the couple), the plot had me coming back, and there are a handful of characters I admire. I was entertained and will of course read the next one! Genre: YA fiction, science fiction
